While at the World of Wheels, a few of us were talking about a black IROC-Z in Isanti at a used car dealer. It was said the car has reasonable miles and appears to be in decent shape for $7995. We discussed the fact that prices are starting to go up on 350 based IROC-Zs and that this price seems reasonable. Well, I looked up the car on Craigslist and found out something very important about this car. It is highly overpriced!!!
Here's where I get my justification on this. The car has manual windows, manual locks, manual trunk release, no AC, needs paint and the front urethane bumper cover has already been painted incorrectly. If someone buys this car, expect to pay anther $2k in a decent paint job. That would put this car at about $10k. This is close to a 1LE optioned car, and was ordered with almost all of the performance options, except the G92 performance axle. This would have given the car the 3.27 gears instead of the 2.77 gears this car has. For $10k, I think you could find a better example.
I've seen this car your talking about, and I agree. It's a nice car, but for what it is, the price just isn't right.
On a side note...there is a 1LE optioned car running around on craigslist right now somewhere. Has higher miles, though..
I sold an 88 IROC about 15 months ago. It was the TPI 305 with 5 speed, G92 axle with 3.42 gears and power everything. It had brand new 08 Corvette Blue paint. I had a hard time getting $3,300 for it. 3rd gens don't command much resale yet.
I wish I could find a clean third gen around here for a decent price. I was looking for a good year and a half, and couldn't find anything, so I ended up investing my money into a different vehicle. One of these days, though...
